On Thursday, September 14th DVAG held its general meeting in the Samuel L. Paley Library on Temple University’s main campus. The meeting was hosted by Temple University’s Urban Archives as it coincided with the archives 50th anniversary. The archives provided the space, pizza, cake and there was also a new 20 case exhibit on display.
Margery Sly, Director of the Special Collections Research Center, was the first speaker. She discussed the history of the Urban Archives as well as its significance today. She also shared about the upcoming symposium being held October 20, 2017 to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Urban Archives.
Up next was John Anderies. He discussed the history of The William Way Center as well as some of their more recent accomplishments and future outlook. He shared some interesting stories, as well as challenges, from the archives.
Special thanks to the Urban Archives and our wonderful speakers!
