Greetings, Delaware Valley archivists!
It’s once again that time of year when you have the opportunity to be a candidate for an opening on the DVAG Planning Committee! Becoming an officer in DVAG is a fun and rewarding way to:
- Get involved in your local professional organization and shape its direction in the future!
- Make new connections and become better acquainted with the archives community in our region!
- Demonstrate your engagement with our profession to current or future employers!
- Acquire a spring in your step and a sparkle in your eye from the satisfaction that comes from doing work that benefits your fellow archivists! (Individual results may vary.)
We encourage archivists from all career levels to run, including students and new professionals, provided you can commit to the term of service required for the position. Per our by-laws, all members of the PC must be a member of DVAG in good standing. Please contact any member of the PC if you have any questions about either a particular role or serving on the PC in general. Information on the open positions and how to get on the ballot follows.
The DVAG Planning Committee is seeking candidates to run for the following positions:
Vice-Chair/Chair Elect
The Vice-Chair position is a 3-year commitment, with the person serving one year each as Vice-Chair, then Chair, then Past Chair. The Vice-Chair is responsible for organizing meetings, which they do with the help of the programming committee and/or other members of the PC.
Communications Manager
The Communications Manager collects and distributes information of interest to DVAG membership via the DVAG blog and social media. The Communications Manager is also responsible for web-hosting, web design, and other website management. Elected (even years), 2 years, renewable 1 term.
Membership Coordinator
The Membership Coordinator maintains membership records, provides applications and membership information, e-mails membership renewal notices. Elected (even years), 2 years, renewable 1 term.
At-Large Member
At-Large Members are appointed by the Planning Committee to a 2-year term, renewable, ongoing. At-Large Members attend committee meetings and participate in planning and decision-making processes for DVAG activities. While this position is not elected, we are seeking candidates to serve in this capacity to be appointed by the PC.

The DVAG Chair is accepting candidate statements and nominations until 11:59 pm on Monday, November 19th. Ballots will be distributed via email the week of November 26th and the election results will be announced prior to the DVAG holiday potluck on December 6th.
