On October 11th, more than 50 attendees braved the rain in Wilmington, Delaware for a peek behind-the-scenes of the Hagley Library. DVAG’s own Laurie Rizzo and Abby Adams were on-hand to showcase some of the archives’ most notable and unique items, including assorted issues of DuPont Magazine, photographs of Stephanie Kwolek (inventor of Kevlar), and various audio-visual materials. Two tours led attendees through the collection storage areas, as well as the conservation lab, where visitors viewed a scrapbook of handkerchief designs currently receiving conservation treatment. “Oohs” and “aahs” prevailed throughout the tour, as archivists described materials relating to the Chamber of Commerce, Avon, and Wawa, just to name a few of the records of American business and enterprise in Hagley’s collections.
