Greetings, DVAG members!

It’s hard to believe, but 2016 is upon us and it’s already February.​ ​

Punxsutawney Phil has predicted an early spring and that’s great news because it means another year of awesome DVAG and ABA programming will be here before we know it!

This year, the DVAG Programming Committee is planning an amazing calendar of speakers, workshops, behind-the-scenes tours, and special events for DVAG meetings and Archivists Being Awesome (ABA) meet-ups.

***Please save the date for our first 2016 DVAG general meeting on Thursday, March 31st  at the Penn Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology*** (3260 South Street, at the intersection of 33rd and Spruce Streets). Stay tuned for more information on the meeting time and topic in the coming weeks.

And for those who like to plan ahead, our tentative schedule for DVAG and ABA events is as follows:

DVAG meetings: March, May, September, and December

ABA meet-ups: April, June, and November

This calendar includes events at the Wagner Free Institute of Science, the Philadelphia History Museum, Eastern State Penitentiary, and the Kislak Center for Special Collections, Rare Books, and Manuscripts that you won’t want to miss so watch the DVAG listserv and blog for upcoming announcements and updates. ***ABA needs YOU to speak at upcoming meet-ups!***

Your fellow archivists love hearing what their colleagues are up to! (They really do!) So please consider speaking at one of our friendly and informal events this year. ABA is planning April and November meetings (exact dates TBD) that are perfect opportunities for you to talk about a recently completed project, a new initiative, or get feedback on a topic of interest. It’s also your chance to practice that conference presentation you are working on or repeat a talk you recently gave for the benefit of those who couldn’t attend SAA, MARAC, AMIA, etc.
