Hello fellow archivists and friends-of-the archives!

Now that Archives Month Philly planning is coming into full swing, have you been wondering how your institution could be involved? Do you have recipes, cooking instruments, photographs of food, or other food-related material in your archives? If you answered yes to both of these questions, then consider participating in our new centerpiece event, Food From the Archives!

When: Thursday, October 27 from 6:00pm – 8:00pm
Where: The Free Library Culinary Literacy Center
What: In collaboration with the Free Library’s Culinary Literacy Center, this event will be an evening celebrating food and cooking related material from the archives. Each institution that participates will have one table to show off and talk about the material they brought, allowing participants to learn more about food, history, and archives. Throughout the evening there will also be cooking demonstrations (and food samples!) in the kitchen based on historic recipes.

This event is a great opportunity whether you have participated in Archives Month many times in the past or are hoping to get involved for the first time this year. If you are interested in hosting a table about a food or cooking related topic from your archives, please email the Archives Month Philly team by Monday, July 11 at archivesmonthphilly[at]gmail[dot]com. This is not a firm commitment, but we would like to have a rough count of participants as we move forward with planning.
