“Night of Lights

On Friday, October 4th Chestnut Hill celebrated its history with “Night of Lights.” The 3rd annual event is hosted by the Chestnut Hill Conservancy and Historical Society and open to the public. Germantown Ave shops were open with their storefront windows projecting slideshows of photographs and film shorts illustrating Chestnut Hill’s rich history. The public were also treated to live music, local speakers, a station to speak with an archivist, and cotton candy! The newest addition was an oral history station where the public can record short family stories about life in Chestnut Hill.  As an event liaison to the oral history station, I was treated to an array of stories about Chestnut Hill’s past and how many people were so open to sharing their stories.
