The South Asian American Digital Archive (SAADA) works to create a more inclusive society by giving voice to South Asian Americans through documenting, preserving, and sharing stories that represent their unique and diverse experiences. The work of SAADA gives a voice and an archive to the South Asian community within DVAG region, but also across the country.
Among their projects in the DVAG region is Revolution Remix, a walking and sound tour of historic Philadelphia. The immersive experience shows the streets of historic Philadelphia through a new lens, juxtaposing South Asian stories with the city’s traditionally recorded history.
The selection process for our second year was tough; each submission made a strong case for the quality work being done at the recognized organizations. We are thrilled to see many examples of diversity and access for under-represented audiences being supported in the DVAG region.
We are also excited to get ready for next year’s award cycle! In 2020, the Committee looks forward to working together on enhancing the selection process, and seeing another year of Delaware Valley archivists recognizing the important work their colleagues do.
