The Delaware Valley Archivists Group is offering travel grants for up to two members toward attendance at the Society of American Archivists Annual Meeting, to be held in Portland, OR in July 2017. We are particularly interested in supporting first-time SAA attendance by early professionals and student members, but all DVAG members in good standing are encouraged to apply.
Completed applications, including a copy of the applicant’s resume, should be directed to chairDVAG@gmail.com. The deadline to apply is 11:59pm on Friday, June 2, 2017.
Winner(s) will be announced no later than Friday, June 9th, in time for the winner(s) to take advantage of early bird conference registration, which ends on July 6, 2017.
All DVAG members may apply. Applicants must be DVAG members in good standing as of June 2, 2017.
Funds can only be used to attend the Society of American Archivists (SAA) annual meeting in Portland, OR, July 23-29, 2017. Funds may be used toward main meeting registration, hotel, transportation, or meals. They may not be used for pre-conference programs, tours, or leisure activities.
Requirements for Winners
After the conference, the winner(s) must prepare a blog post on their experience for publication on DVAG’s blog, The Arranger, due by September 1, 2017.
Additionally, the winner(s) must plan a post-conference wrap-up event with the assistance of the DVAG Planning Committee.
Winner(s) must submit expense receipts to DVAG’s Treasurer and will get reimbursed (rather than receiving a check outright). Given the limited funds, we encourage the winners to take advantage of early bird registration, which ends on July 6, 2017.
Grant recipients may receive up to $1500. Grant recipients and their award amounts will be decided based on need, institutional support, and the importance of this conference to their professional development. We recognize that any amount up to $1500 will not pay all expenses for most attendees, but hope that it will make conference attendance easier for the winner(s).
